I have been researching about film posters. These are what a film company will release in order to promote the film to get more people to go and see it. They have a big affect and role in bringing in viewers and supporting the brand image of the film. They use the features that fit with the genre of the film to really sell the film. For the big companies this is quite a large factor in the film making process and it is normally the big holly wood companies who create these. I have looked at a few example of posters for films from the horror genre and have took inspiration from them in order to create my own. These are the all posters that i found and thought were very effective in their purpose of to sell the film. The first poster i looked at was from the film 'The Exorcist'. The thing that really caught my eye about this poster was the quote at the top, "Most terrifying movie of all time". This stands out and gives across a strong message, causing people to want to watch the film, as they think it will be like nothing they have seen before. The next poster I looked at was from the film 'An American Haunting' This film uses a mixture of mysterious colors as well as using the key words of, "possession knows no bounds" This plays of the mind of the viewer think and maybe be scared already before even seeing the film. The final poster I looked at was from he film, 'The evil dead'. This is a very theatrical poster which includes lots of information about the film. The picture of someone being sucked into the ground and reaching for help really sells the film, as it gives a sense of scariness and uniqueness about the film. This makes the public want to see it and experience something they have never done before.
